“No way, anyone…!”
“Of course I will.”
A sharp smile bloomed on his face like a cross-section of a broken glass. The man’s eyes gleamed with a blue light.
“You can’t let me see this ugly thing on my land.”
Shortly thereafter, a violent red storm struck the laboratory. The man killed all those who worked at the institute. It was so one-sided that she couldn’t believe he had done it alone. In the meantime, the trapped subjects ran away. I was one of the subjects that left the lab. The man paid no mind to us. On that day, it was widely announced that the owner of the dark city of Carnot was changed. The new king’s name was Lakis Avalon. It was he who first made me realize that this was a world in the novel.

I escaped there without looking back and hid in the dark while the blonde man was slaughtering people in the lab. I didn’t think I could beat him by eating so many of the debris, I could only say he was a monster. The man’s name was known because late that evening, news of the change of the King of Carnot swept through the city.
The lab I was in.
The unknown strength of the historical site.
The name of the land on which the line is now two feet.
And the name of the man who became the new head of this place and his appearance I saw.
At that moment, the scattered pieces were matched in one place. It feels a bit unexpected, but it was a novel that finally came to mind in the finished puzzle. My small hobby in my previous life was reading books. Among them, I remember that one last novel I read right before I died had such a plot. Although it has been a long time since my previous life, my memory has become much better than before due to the various experiments I received from the institute. So for the old work, memories came out quite clearly. The title of the book, which was clearly indistinguishable from a romance novel or thriller novel genre, was “Chain of Flowers.” The novel, abbreviated by the readers, called the so-called Flower Chain, a Romance Thriller (compound word of Romance and Thriller), which was dotted with blood-splattering love and war. Like the title, the main character was a flower-like woman raised beautifully in a greenhouse. The female protagonist’s name was “Annmarie Blanche,” which I remember as being the daughter of a man who was originally a commoner but bought something and became an emerging aristocrat. But after Annmarie’s father was wrecked in the sea and died, her house was completely destroyed. The heroine, who was left alone with her younger sister, was in despair at first, but she stood firm and started standing alone. She was always bright and gentle, and the people around her got charmed without hesitation, but the charm of the heroine didn’t discriminate between sexes. Later, she chose one of the coolest male protagonists who fell in love with her and swore an oath of eternal love. In other words, the novel is about a heroine who was lonely and does not cry, but has survived adversity, and finally becomes rich and honorable……
No, I don’t know about the honorable part. Anyway, it was a happy ending. But was the genre of this novel a romance thriller for nothing?
There was a wasp among the bees who came to suck honey, attracted by the scent of flowers. It was the villainous sub-character, Lakis Avalon, who had devastated the main character’s life. Yeah, the same guy who showed up at the lab and destroyed it. He was a possessive human being who bound the heroine. Of course, there were a few men besides Lakis who fell in love with the heroine, Annmarie and burned their twisted monopoly. However, none of them were as obsessed and fanatic as Lakis. The first encounter between the heroine and sub-villain was dramatic & cliché. In the beginning of the novel, Lakis was a man who ruled as the king of the dark world, but was turned over by a trusted person and was driven out with fatal injuries. Then, he entered an alley and lost his consciousness and fell down. In the end, it was in front of the house where the heroine, Annmarie lives. At that time, Annmarie fled from debtors after her family collapsed, and was living with her younger sister by buying a shabby house with the money she got from selling her parent’s belongings. A good heroine picks up an unidentified man who has fallen in front of her house in such a difficult situation and nurses them back to health sincerely. While they’re together, Lakis gets interested in Annmarie. Of course, according to the law of romance novels, it was soon that the interest turned into love. Lakis then becomes unnoticed by Annmarie and gives her corrupt affection. He left no one alive who seemed to do any harm to Annmarie. But Lakis’ standards were as strict as when he was the king of the dark world. As a result, the people that died in his hand included a few people whom Annmarie liked, which devastated her life. Even one of the servant men, who was quite well-known to readers, died to Lakis. I don’t know how shocked I was when I was reading that scene. Because that dead servant guy was my favorite…… It’s been a while since I thought about it. I felt like my mouth was forming into a smile. I thought I’d lost most of my feelings during the lab experiment, but I can’t believe I’d feel this joyful when I think of the dead guy. In conclusion, Lakis in the novel was a scary guy. I wonder if even the angelic heroine regretted saving him. And judging from the circumstances, the person I saw in the lab this time seemed to be the the novel’s obsessive villain.
Of course, it doesn’t make any sense. The world I am in is the world in the novel. But it was hard to believe that I have memories of my past life or that there was such a thing as magical powers from fragments of ruins. Of course, I had to bear in mind the possibility that the world might have nothing to do with the novel I read. Anyway, the man who was supposed to be Lakis Avalon in the novel was ten times more scared than I thought he was reading the book. He was still much younger than he was in the novel, but he’s already been that harsh. Now that Lakis had just become the king of the dark world, if this was according to the novel, it would still be years before the beginning of the story. No matter how good my memory was, there were some things I couldn’t think of, including the delicate setting of the characters. It seemed to be because it wasn’t something that I payed much attention to back then.
If you look at the lab now, you can see that Lakis doesn’t like the place……Would he have been the first to come and shut down as soon as he was king? So I was a little worried that maybe the fireball would bounce off the labs and come after me to kill me.
Only
I took a quiet breath for a while and looked at the movements. Perhaps the same would be true of other surviving experiments.
According to the news, Lakis killed all the other challengers after the death of his father, the former king of the black world, and achieved a generational change earlier than everyone expected. Then he has been organizing his forces in and out of Carnot for a while. Perhaps Lakis really didn’t want to kill the escapees.
So I got my freedom back six years after entering the lab. Now I have no one to block the way where I go. Also, unlike before, I have the power to protect my body, and no one can threaten me anymore as I was a child. I left Carnot on that road and took up a site elsewhere. Time has passed, and now I have come to live a normal life that anyone can see.
Then one day,
“Hello, I will be living next door since today and came to say hi. My name is Annmarie.”
“……”
The heroine moved into my house next door.
