Chapter 101: The Vessel
As he said, Hiro allowed the purgatory domain to descend onto this space, confining Dawnson within.
Unless he expended a greater volume of demonic essence to break the domain, it was impossible to escape.
Of course, he could use divine energy to try, but said energy was precious—especially in an isolated space like this one.
So, Dawnson had no choice but to obediently accept this loss and wait for Asmir to finish off his pets.
In the darkness of the Purgatory Domain, Dawnson was going mad.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Explosions sounded everywhere as he blasted off with his demonic arts.
He even reverted to his original body, a massive demon with twelve arms and six black wings, striking randomly at the space around him.
However, it was useless.
Dawnson didn't know this but all energy-based attacks were soundlessly devoured by Hiro's innate divine power of gluttony, while the force from his physical attacks wasn't enough to shatter the Purgatory Domain.
As for divine energy, Dawnson's faith energy wasn't sufficient to generate divine energy.
Not everyone was like Hiro who had an immaterial domain. Hiro's domain existed between dimensions, and it wouldn't be blocked by obscure concepts such as distance and time.
Thinking about it, Hiro started his path to divinity with a greater foundation than most Paranormals.
The pocket dimension with near-infinite growth potential, the immaterial domain that bypassed space-time, and the various tools provided by the system's reward mechanism.
Even in a world without special powers, the existence of his quantum watch and the accompanying artificial intelligence, Ei, was a great cheat in and of itself.
From a high altitude vantage point, Hiro sat cross-legged with a hand resting on his chin as he watched silently.
He had to admit that home-field advantages were something scary. If he fought Dawnson within the latter's stronghold, the situation would have been reversed at the moment.
Hiro felt regret at the fact that he couldn't see what's happening outside the domain to witness the full strength of Asmir, as he was plenty curious about her innate abilities.
"Should I kill this guy?" Hiro lifted his head and looked over, musing at his options for the moment.
There wasn't much to be gained from this guy. Well, he could milk him dry of demonic essence and maybe whatever faith energy he had left.

Asmir said not to kill him, but she didn't mention anything about incapacitating him.
Perhaps she thought that I'd do great if I could stall him at the very least? After making up his mind, Hiro pressed his hand down.
His five fingers snapped with an audible crack that haunts the ears. Then, the five fingers morphed into five bone swords with a swirling miasma of demonic energy around them.
In the silent darkness, they stabbed out during a crucial moment of weakness while Dawnson was absorbed in his tirade of madness.
Pfft! Pfff! Pfft! Pfft! Pfft!
Dawnson felt the five bone swords stabbing into his flesh, wedged into five of his vital organs with great ease.

It wasn't painful at all, actually. However, Dawnson felt uneasy, and one of his hands moved in an attempt to find these swords.
However, they were so small—like needles or shards of wooden splinters. He could feel them, but he couldn't pinpoint their position with great accuracy.
Just as Dawnson was wondering whether or not to rip out his five organs altogether, Hiro clenched his bloodied fist.
"Devour," he whispered gently.
The five fingers buzzed, each transforming into a tiny vortex with an insane suction force acting on the demonic energy, demonic essence, and whatever remnants of faith energy were left inside Dawnson's body.
Roar!
Dawnson immediately felt the change and the sudden pain of having his energy ripped off from his body.
He grew even more violent, and as he thrashed about, he began shouting nonsense—merely grasping at straws.
"What did Asmir promise you?! I'll double the offer! No, I'll triple it!
"Where did you come from?! Do you know who I am? Don't you know who stands behind me?! This idealistic woman will drag the demon race into oblivion!
"Whatever promises she made, who can guarantee that she'll follow through on her words?! Let me tell you, she's all on her own unless she decides to repent to the Master!
"Ugh! What are you doing?! Let me go you fucking peasant! Fight me fair and square you coward!
"I'm unwilling to accept this! I'M UNWILLING!!!"
…
Alas, it was futile.
Hiro pursed his lips. As long as Asmir was on her own, then Hiro would benefit.
What can he do with a clan of powerful demons of such a long lineage? Rope them all into his pitiful pocket dimension?
He wanted to build his force in preparation for the war of the New World as soon as possible.
He didn't care if he added demons to his banner because he didn't inherit this world's prejudice against them.
Dawnson's body shriveled up at an alarming rate and the bone swords inside his body turned from pale white to purplish-black with lines of golden script etched over them.
At this moment, Hiro's five fingers recovered and his hand seemed brand new.
Conversely—as Dawnson's body shrank, the five bone swords increased in size.
Soon, five slender long swords stabbed out from Dawnson's humanoid body, like an intricate cross of bone spurs, pinning his body into the void.
Purple blood dripped from his wounds and fell into the darkness. Dawnson's lips moved, his voice was hoarse and unrecognizable.
Looking at the five bone swords that underwent a weird mutation, Hiro kept the sword stabbed into Dawnson's heart and recalled the other four.
Looking at the four bone swords disappearing into the darkness, Dawnson's eyes flickered with helplessness and anger.
Whenever he tried to muster up a lick of energy, the sword would devour it whole.
…
High above, Hiro sat cross-legged and surveyed the mutated bone swords and the lines of inscription on their bodies.
He wondered if this had anything to do with Dawnson's bloodline, but he decided that this wasn't the time to study them.
After thinking for a moment, Hiro tried to store them in the system inventory.
[Notice]: Detected Mutated Bone Swords with a unique quality. Their forms had deviated from the original, and so, a sufficient cost of achievement points will be deducted if you wish to store them in the system's inventory.
12,000 achievement points will be deducted.
…
Hiro looked at the notification. If he did the math, each sword would require 3,000 points.
Since it was rare to encounter someone on Dawnson's level, Hiro confirmed the transaction without hesitation.
The four swords shone with a golden light and disappeared, reappearing inside his inventory space next to the mass enlightenment scroll and two game vouchers.
"Should I absorb some of his consciousness to strengthen my clone?" Hiro mulled over it for a moment and shook his head.
It wasn't worth it.
He closed his eyes and waited paternity.
As he waited, Hiro wondered about the situation in the outside world and the current war effort.
However, no matter how dire the situation was outside, the bottom line remains that as long as Asmir was alive, everything was fine.
…
It was a living hell in the stronghold.
The walls were breached on two fronts and the four armies of the enemies found their way into the stronghold.
Like locusts, they plundered and killed their way through the various districts one street at a time.
The black raven, two demon generals, and Paimon's mother were backed into a corner as they stood before the Demon Tower.
Surrounded on all sides, the four of them split up to guard the four cardinal directions respectively.
On the other side, the leaders of the Great Demon families lined up together with the golden eagle, the traitor demon general, and a few other powerful demons.
It may seem like a standoff at the moment, but the black raven knew that things weren't looking good.
"Give up, Crow! Save yourself some time and dignity by coming over to this side as early as possible. Perhaps, the Master will find it in him to forgive you for the sake of your rare bloodline."
The black raven, now a blazing ball of crimson flames, spread his wings wide and screeched loudly, "Caw! You fucking traitor, shut up!"
"Why bother? Can't you see the bigger picture? Asmir can't survive this crisis no matter how brilliant she is…"
"Is this seat's name something you can spout from your mouth?" A light voice echoed from the Demon Tower, drawing everyone's attention.
At first, they were shocked by the tone, and as they looked over, the black raven couldn't believe his eyes.
"Y-you…"
A petite demon girl with long black hair and a pair of purple horns on her forehead walked over from the depths of the Demon Tower.
The tower suffered many wounds on this day, and she was walking through one of the chasms that marred its structure.
The black raven remembered this girl as the demonic vessel used to seal the minor realm fragment, but he couldn't understand what she was doing here.
Furthermore, that tone… It sounded very much like the tone of Lord Asmir…
The black raven was confused, What's going on?
