Chapter 25

C25 – Killed the Swordtooth Tiger!

Zhou Yuyan was astonished after fending off a Swordtooth Tiger with a single strike of her sword. It was her first real combat encounter, and the thrill of it was overwhelming. An uncontrollable energy radiated from her, causing her sword-wielding hand to quiver with anticipation.

She was trembling because she sensed her sword was about to taste blood, sending her adrenaline surging.

Her concentration was shattered by a dull thud, disrupting her strategy against the two Swordtooth Tigers launching a simultaneous assault. The immediate threat was neutralized as one tiger rolled away, allowing her to deftly sidestep the leap of the other.

Out of the corner of her eye, she caught sight of the Big Black Ant, flung to the ground by the tiger’s powerful swipe. She realized that it was this very ant that had darted past her, colliding with the tiger.

Rushing to the motionless ant, she discovered, to her relief, that it was unscathed. It merely shook its dazed head and regained its senses.

Lee Tian appeared unharmed, but internally, he was wounded and nearly passed out. Shaking off the disorientation, he came to just in time to face another onslaught from the relentless Swordtooth Tigers.

Standing by his side, Zhou Yuyan mistook their target as herself and brandished her sword, keeping the predators at bay. Her blade, as if enchanted, inflicted grievous wounds on any tiger that strayed too close.

Seizing the moment, Lee Tian lunged at one of the injured tigers, intent on delivering a fatal bite. But the tiger’s thick hide and remarkable agility allowed it to narrowly escape his jaws time and again.

Each time the tigers turned to retaliate against Lee Tian, Zhou Yuyan’s Longsword intervened, repelling them and rescuing him from peril.

The tigers, frustrated by the sight of the black ant under the unwavering protection of this seemingly naive human girl, were infuriated by their thwarted efforts.

The tigers were riddled with wounds from the young human girl’s longsword. One of her companions, eager to attack the detestable Big Black Ant, failed to evade Zhou Yuyan’s blade and was slain instantly. The Scarface Swordtooth Tiger, as the leader of the pack, couldn’t stand by and watch his tigers suffer such heavy injuries. Swallowing the rage over his offspring killed by Lee Tian, he let out a thunderous roar and signaled the retreat.

Before disappearing into the thicket, he growled a warning to Lee Tian in the language of beasts, “Your end will come once those two humans are gone!” With that, he vanished into the jungle with the rest of the Swordtooth Tigers.

Zhou Yuyan, not pursuing, stood her ground. She had inflicted serious damage on the tiger pack and taken down one of their own—a feat that left her feeling quite content. Besides, venturing into the unknown jungle was fraught with peril, a sentiment echoed by her ‘bodyguard,’ Zhang Shan.

Catching her breath, Zhou Yuyan’s chest heaved with the aftermath of the nearly two-hour-long clash. Her sword-gripping hand was split open, bleeding and trembling. The adrenaline still surged within her, leaving her heart racing long after the fight had ended.

Lee Tian, too, knew the thrill of the hunt, especially after felling a large predator. But now, he lay on the ground, incapacitated. In the heat of battle, a Swordtooth Tiger had bitten off a chunk of his Scythe, leaving behind two distinct tooth marks on his rear. Had it not been for his Hard Nail-enhanced body, he might have lost more than just a piece of his pride.
