Chapter 32
C32 – Wen Lang
“I can offer you an explanation,” Xu Linshan said, his expression somber.
Regardless of the outcome of today’s events, once word got out, Xu Linshan was bound to be the loser.
Qi Ning, however, was poised to become the new rising star of Sigu City, thanks to today’s incident.
“Go ahead,” Qi Ning said nonchalantly, taking a seat not far from Xu Linshan.
“I’m saying it was a misunderstanding because I fell for a liar’s deceit. Do you believe that?” Xu Linshan asked, his face etched with bitterness.
Qi Ning nodded.
His nod wasn’t an indication of belief in Xu Linshan’s words; he knew that nodding was necessary at this juncture.
Despite Xu Linshan’s current harmless demeanor, if pushed to the brink, he could become ruthless. In such a scenario, Qi Ning, who lacked a solid backing, would find himself in grave danger.
“Now that we have an explanation, perhaps we should discuss compensation?” Qi Ning suggested, eyeing Xu Linshan.
Xu Linshan’s expression remained tinged with bitterness, yet Qi Ning noticed a sharp glint flickering in his eyes.

He was either plotting against Qi Ning or figuring out how to appease him. Given Qi Ning’s read on the man, the former seemed more likely.
”Mr. Li!” At that moment, a somewhat flippant voice called from outside the room.
Qi Ning and Xu Linshan both turned to look at the door.
A young man with a carefree air entered, toying with an object in his hand.
Qi Ning’s pupils noticeably dilated with surprise upon seeing the newcomer.
He felt a chilling aura radiating from the man.
As the man stepped into the room, Qi Ning saw that he was fiddling with a one-inch-long dagger.
“Allow me to introduce myself. I’m Wen Lang,” the newcomer said.
Wen Lang paused, then his face took on a sullen look. “I’m an assassin, one without emotion.”
Xu Linshan wore an expression of discomfort at Wen Lang’s introduction.
Qi Ning, however, regarded Wen Lang with a wary gaze.
Wen Lang was formidable, even more so than a scorpion.
Internally, Qi Ning swore and lamented, “Had I known, I would have invested more in learning combat skills.”
Wen Lang glanced at Qi Ning, a sneer spreading across his face. “Boss Li, you’ve truly outdone yourself in embarrassment. To think you’ve been humiliated by a mere kid. All your men outside are down.”
“You’re spouting too much nonsense,” Xu Linshan retorted as he stared down Wen Lang. “Kill him,” he commanded, gesturing towards Qi Ning.
”Understood!” Wen Lang nodded before turning to Qi Ning. “Looks like it’s your unlucky day. You’re definitely going to die here. I might leave your body intact, but don’t expect a decent burial.”
”You don’t even look 20 years old. Honestly, it’s a bit of a shame,” Wen Lang continued, his voice dripping with condescension, yet his face remained expressionless, as if he were discussing something utterly unrelated to him.
“Have you truly decided to let him take action?” Qi Ning asked Xu Linshan.
Xu Linshan let out a cold laugh. “Do you actually believe I’d surrender to someone like you, not even 20? I was making my mark in the world while you were still in diapers.”
“Let me make this clear: crossing me means death.”
