Chapter 289: Forced Bride to Be

Chapter 289: Forced Bride to Be

Katarina could only widen her eyes and anticipate the sword that was going in for the kill. She couldn't even move by how tight Elliot was holding her wrist, and the fear of the dark and twisted aura coming from the boy prevented her from moving even a slight twitch.

The blade was half an inch away from her finger when it stopped. Elliot looked at her and chuckled, shaking his head and letting the woman go. "I took your friend's leg. That should be enough amputation for today."

"Your power is overwhelming," Katarina said. She kneeled in front of Elliot and lowered her head close to the ground, she placed her hands on the floor and laid her head on top of it. "I submit to your power, but please help me break free."

"This is getting interesting. Don't bother Madam Locraine again," Elliot said. "Do that, and I'll help you."

"I will do anything you say," Katarina muttered. "I am your eyes from the shadows from now on."

"What about your clan and your mission?" Elliot quirked his brow up. He was sure to not easily get deceived by Katarina. This was too suspicious to even be real. "You were so keen on hurting Madam Locraine for the sword just a few moments ago, and now you're acting like this. Isn't it a bit too quick."

"I am not from the Giverechie Clan," Katarina confessed. "I was betrothed to their leader when I was only twelve, and was destined to become one of his wives. He never touched me inappropriately since I'm not of age, but it's only a matter of time before he does. I am forced to do everything he says or else I will die in three days."

"There's a lot of excuses coming from you." Elliot intentionally pierced his sword right beside Katarina's head. She flinched after hearing the sound of the stone floor being pierced, fearing Elliot was going to put a hole through her head next.

"From now on, you'll be my eyes," Elliot said. "You will be sent on missions by me and I will order you for errands, of course this isn't for free. Any questions or concerns shall be addressed immediately."

"Affirmative," Katarina replied. "She slightly looked up to see Elliot staring at her."

"How old are you anyway?" Elliot scrunched his face after remembering that this woman was forcibly married to an old man. He was worried that she will get hurt because of a sick man getting his way with younger girls because of his power.

"I'm twenty," Katarina replied. "Next year will be the time for me to be married to the head."

"Then you will not be married to the head," Elliot simply said. "You shall come with me and become my shadow. For what it's worth, you are slightly faster than me. You just lack proper weaponry, so I had the upper hand in our fight earlier."

"Thank you," Katarina bowed again. This time, she forced her head to go lower to the ground, almost touching it with her forehead.

"And one more thing," Elliot followed. "I have your first mission."

"And I have my first concern," Katarina said. She looked up and slowly stood. She was wearing a black bodysuit and a red armor on her forearm. She removed the armor on the right to show a tattoo of a flower on her wrist with a vine trailing up to her elbow.

"What's this?" Elliot asked. "Why do I feel a hint of magic in this?"

"This is a mark for the future wives of the leader," Katarina replied. "I'm afraid my movements will be limited because of this seal. Once he see me getting away from Leon, he will activate this seal and it will send a poisin to my body. I will die in three days from then on."

Elliot pursed his lips and shook his head, "I know someone who can remove it. Follow me back to where Madam Locraine is. I still have something to discuss with her."

Katarina scratched the back of her head and looked away, "I'm afraid she might be busy right now."

"Busy?" Elliot tilted his head in confusion.

"This is what you get," Madam Locraine whispered to Leon. She was tying his body with a rope. She even tightened the rope so much that Leon had a hard time breathing. "You dare enter my private sanctuary and dare attack me? No way."

Madam Locraine turned to Leon's wife. A smirk appeared on her lips and pulled her remaining leg, dragging her close to where her husband was. "What a sight. A husband and wife duo."

"We will kill you, Madam Locraine," Leon's wife grit her teeth in anger. "I doubt the boy will survive Katarina. She's one of the strongest among us even if she wasn't born in the clan."

"I believe that their fight is over," Madam Locraine chuckled. "Feel the aura and tell me who do you think won?"

"But a strike like what he did to me should take him down," Leon's wife gasped. "This is impossible!"

"Nothing is impossible when it comest to this boy," Madam Locraine said and opened her fan. "He's something that everyone should keep an eye on."

Elliot was rushing towards them, but he didn't hear their conversation. He arrived just in time for Madam Locraine to lift the now unconscious couple in her arms.

She had returned to her plump figure and was now able to withstand the weight of the two. "I called the officers. It won't be long before they get here and throw these three into the dungeons. Wait, where is Katarina?"

"I-I'm here" Katarina came out of the shadows and snapped her fingers. The moment she did was the moment that the light from the ember lamps turned back on. "Madam Locraine, please forgive me. I was just forced to do these things because I was betrothed to Givecherie's clan head."

"Such a pathetic excuse," Madam Locraine scoffed. "Elliot, take her with me and let's call the officers. I'll ask you more about your new skill after everything. So make sure you survive."

The woman walked closer to the door but paused when she realized that Elliot wasn't following her. She turned and saw Elliot standing in front of Katarina, his arma extended on either side of him.

"Madam Locraine," Elliot called out. "I need her help with something."
