Chapter 290: Locraine and Peter

The Royal Guards arrived not long after Madam Locraine made the call. Elliot told her about Katarina and she agreed to only report Leon and his wife.

"Are you sure about this?" Madam Locraine asked Elliot as they let Katarina escape from the back of the mansion.

"I am sure," Elliot replied without hesitating. "Katarina, come to my inn in three hours. I'll remove your seal."

"Okay," Katarina nodded. She touched her neck but realized her scarf wasn't there anymore. She used it earlier to help Leon's wife with her wound. "That was the scarf my father gave me."

"I'll take it back somehow," Elliot said. "Now, go. We still have to talk to the guards from the palace."

"Roger that, master," Katarina replied and flipped back. She leaped then spun before driving straight through the forest where her presence completely vanished.

"How do you know that you can trust her?" Madam Locraine asked Elliot as they headed back to the entrance of the mansion. "She was an enemy, after all."

"I saw how real she was when she talked to me," Elliot said. "Her eyes weren't lying, and so did the other parts of her body. She was really scared and she wanted to escape her tragic reality."

"Okay then," Madam Locraine said. "I entrust this decision to you."

Elliot only nodded and rushed to the entrance where they threw the two while being tied down. Madam Locraine's guards and the other Rogues around the mansion were keeping their eyes on the couple, making sure they avoid doing something suspicious.

Madam Locraine opened her fan and blocked Elliot from walking before he could turn to the corner where the front entrance was, "Let's put on a show, shall we?"

"There's one more of us!" Leon yelled. "I bet she will betray you like how she betrayed us!"

Madam Locraine touched her chest and gasped in a fake manner. Elliot had just grasped what the woman told him a few moments prior. They were putting on a show for the guards.

They were now in front porch while the couple was tied up and were sitting on the ground front of them. Four Officers from the kingdom were sent and they all wore the standard large Officer's armor.

"Madam Locraine, what is this accusation?" one of the four officers asked.

"I do not know whatever do they mean, officer," Madam Locraine said and touched her forehead. "I have not encountered a third person when these two attacked."

"They attacked?" the second officer scrunched his face after seeing the couple's condition. One was amputated and the other was bruised heavily on the face. "Madam Locraine, why does it seem like these two received more damage than you?"

Madam Locraine touched Elliot's back and gently pushed him forward, "Do you know this boy? Of course, you know him. He's been one of the strongest Champions in the Championship of the Greats so far. He had been showing nothing but splendid feats."

"That makes sense," the first officer said. "Those Adventurers in the current competition are beasts. They are hella strong."

Elliot faked a smile as the two guards talked about how scary the participants of the competition were. They even briefly discussed the recent breach in the competition, saying it was ruled as a terrorist attack.

The officers pulled the couple inside the wagon and tied them up inside with chains to seal their power. The wagon had runes outside and a large P symbol, meaning they were carrying prisoners.

"But we have one more accomplice!" Leon yelled. "Those two are hiding her. Her name is Katarina Sunkens and she was delivered to us when she was twelve. She's our leader's future fourteenth wife! Listen to me you dumb c*nts!"

"Oh, shut up!" the third officer, and the only female one, conjured a bandana with her index finger and wrapped it around Leon's mouth. "You have no evidence to speak such rubbish. Don't you dare blame something Madam Locraine would never do."

Madam Locraine faked wiped a tear from her cheek. She opened her fan and raised it to cover her face, "I do not like such allegations. I am nothing but a humble merchant"

"Cut the crap," the fourth officer and the tallest and largest one among them spat like poison. He walked closer to the woman and leaned in, "Are you sure you're innocent, Locraine?"

"What do you mean, Peter?" Madam Locraine knit her brows in fake confusion. Her aura slowly changed from full of pity to full of intimidation. 

Peter sighed and looked at the wagon. "Those two inside are pushing the fact that there was another one of them. They said you let her escape for some reason. Why is that?"

"I do not know why you're saying such things, officer," Madam Locraine said. "I told you, I do not know such things. Besides, I could never fight in off Rogues because I'm just a woman."

"We know how powerful you were in your prime," Peter crossed his arms. "The beasts from the Championship of the Greats we just talked about, you used to be one of them."

"Let's not dwell in what happened in the past, Peter"

"Let us continue dwelling in the past, Locraine," Peter urged. Elliot bent his arm and grazed his fingertips on the handle of his sword. He was now ready to protect the woman in case the man would attack her.

Madam Locraine sighed, "Peter, you made your choice and I made mine. You chose to become a public servant, in the force where it's dangerous."

"I did it for us!" Peter yelled that made the people around them filled with gasp. Even the guards nearby that heard the officer couldn't help but widen their eyes for a split second before returning to their original size.

"Locraine, I didn't abandon you to join the officers," Peter tried to hold the plump woman's hands but she retracted them and walked to the doorway. "I did it so you could be proud of me."

"You did it for your own selfish desires, Peter," Madam Locraine fell to her knees and started crying. "I was missing you every single day and you weren't here."

Elliot's hands fell to the side as he watched the two exchanging words like he was in some kind of play, "What in the actual hell?!"
