X-Rank Hunter

Chapter 149: The Oriole

Chapter 149: The Oriole

"You're threatening me? You've got guts..."

After Janine said those words, she immediately gave the brat in front of her a fierce punch on his stomach. Although she only gave the tenth of her strength, it was more than enough to dispatch the other party. Who told him to threaten her? He must be tired of living!

That being said, Ben was caught off guard. He was sent flying as he rolled uncontrollably on the ground. It even took him a while before his roll came to a halt.

Gasp, gasp, gasp!

So as for now, Ben was kneeling with his hands on the ground while trying his hardest to catch up some breaths. His rolling had finally stopped after he collided to the foot of a cliff. If not for his tough bones then who knew what kind of pitiful state he might be in right now. That brute was surely daring! Ben was determined to avenge himself and give that brute girl a beating she deserves.

So then, Ben couldn't just sit idly as he stood up from the ground. But upon recalling how he ended up in such a state, he couldn't help but grit his teeth in frustration. And his frustration had even raised to the next level when he saw the brute who hit him was actually coming in his direction. As if he was some sort of prey who was about to escape.

"I will kill you!" Ben roared as he finally lost his cool. How could the other party treat him as prey? Even though he could control his emotion and pride, there was a limit to it!

And just like that, one of his ribs sprouted out from his chest as he hurriedly plucked it up. After grabbing it for good, he threw it in the midair as it slowly transformed itself into a huge sword made of bone.

Overwhelming Weapon Energy shook the surroundings as if some kind of supreme being had just descended from the heavens.

Ben didn't just show off his overwhelming strength. As the huge sword was floating in the midair, he threw it towards the brute coming at him as if he was throwing a javelin.

The huge sword rushed furiously to greet the incoming enemy as the aura it emitted was as if telling the enemy, "Go back to oblivion."

"Oh?" Janine, on the other hand, was a bit surprised seeing the incoming danger. It appeared that the brat she was about to beat up really had an ability as well.

The huge sword coming at her exuded out an incredibly strong murderous intent making Janine's agitation go wild. From the many years in her life, she finally found someone worthy as her opponent!

So then, Janine greeted the incoming huge sword with a fist as both of them collided against each other. It was as if the air nearby was being shattered. Incredibly strong shockwaves pushed away the surroundings as the trees jumped away in fright. A Crater was slowly forming as well beneath them as the land revealed many cracks.

Ben, on the other hand, was astonished after he saw how did the other party block his attack with only her fist. Just how powerful was this brute?

But of course, Ben wouldn't just stand stupidly in there to be surprised by the other party's strength for a long time. Knowing that his attack had failed to harm the other party, Ben controlled the huge sword again.

Ben waved his hand as the huge sword was raised upwards. After which, he waved his hand downwards as the sword made a vertical slash.

But Janine was only grinning as she simply raised her hand and the incoming sword was grabbed. What incredible physical prowess! Ben widened his eyes in yet another astonishment. It appeared that he really needed to make a furious move this time.

That being said, Ben waved his hand then and again as the huge sword forcefully released itself from the other party's grab. Not long after, it continuously unleashed a barrage of attacks against the other party. Diagonal slash, vertical slash, horizontal slash, stab, etc., the attack didn't want to stop as Janine finally felt suppression somehow. She even crossed her arms helplessly as the barrage of attack raged on.

The slash made by the huge sword caused many deep ravines on the surroundings and the shockwaves made by it upon hitting Janine were even sweeping away all the fallen trees and rubbles in the area. But the attack didn't end there as it appeared that there was no sign of stopping at all.

It was around this time that Jim's Blood Minion found the battle transpiring in there. The Blood Minion didn't waste any time as it hurriedly informed its creator.

Jim then received the news as he immediately shifted his consciousness to the Blood Minion that informed him about the news. And just like that, he immediately saw the furious fight. What a frightening scene! Even Jim was doubtful if he himself could unleash such explosive power.

But well, his ability wasn't about explosiveness. He could kill without causing so much destruction, unlike the ones who he was seeing and were fighting against each other.

But still, the incredible destructive prowess by the one who was controlling the huge sword, made Jim felt a bit jealous. He was even wondering what would he do if he was the one fighting the other party.

And the same went for the little girl, Jim felt a bit jealous of her very strong body. He was astonished seeing that no matter how many times the huge sword made a slash, the little girl still remained unharmed. Or even if she was harmed somehow, it was only a tiny scratch on her skin. And not only that, it was as if she was enjoying what was happening to her, she was even grinning. If he was the one fighting this girl, what should he do in order to harm this kind of body?

Just thinking about it could make Jim realize how strong the other X-rank Hunters really were. And just by seeing the aura they exuded out, it appeared that they were accustomed to killing. Compared to him who had never killed anyone before, or at least killing with murderous intent, the other party's killing intent was simply too great compared to him.

At first, Jim thought that once he met the other X-rank Hunters, they were just only going to play to compare their strength. But who would have thought that the situation would be so serious once they met and started fighting. This was simply a fight-to-death battle! Were they supposed to meet and fight to their death here? Was it only one of them that would be chosen? Was this some kind of practice to temper the savior of this world to the fullest? How could this be...?

At that moment, Jim realized the severity of the situation as he became exceedingly serious. If what he was thinking was correct, if they were supposed to fight-to-death here, was there still a chance for him to win knowing that he hadn't killed any humans before?

With that in mind, he retracted his consciousness from the Blood Minion watching the fight as he talked to his strongest weapon seriously. But upon learning that Tokayo would still stand no chance against the brute girl he met before, Jim's determination to win had wavered and turned slim. What should he do now in order to fight those monsters and win? Jim couldn't help but feel worried. He even felt that he was becoming pathetic now seeing that he was thinking to even run away from the fight.

But would Jim dare to run away? No way!

He already suffered so many near-death experiences in his life. This kind of situation where his life was at risk was something he would never run away from.

With that in mind, Jim let Tokayo go back into his body. After which, Jim used Exchange to the Blood Minion he left in there as he watched the transpiring battle carefully. This was a good chance to study the other party's strength and ability!

An incredible amount of Physical Energy...

Overwhelming Weapon Energy...

Jim felt the absurdly strong energies coming out from the two. The other one had a great explosive power while the other one had an impenetrable defense. It was as if an unstoppable force met an immovable object. It was really hard to determine who had the advantage in this fight.

Thus, Jim continued to watch intently as he suddenly thought of something cunning.

There was a saying, 'The mantis stalks for the cicada, unaware of the oriole behind.'

If they were supposed to fight-to-death here in this place, then he should just let his opponents consume each other and wear them down. Let them determine themselves who was the mantis and who was the cicada. But no matter who was it, Jim would definitely be the oriole.

But of course, that was only his wild thought. Doing something like that was not something that he was used to. In any case, he wouldn't barge in their fight as he would only watch the situation carefully. If in the end, they really needed to fight-to-death, then he wouldn't mind eliminating them both with all of his strengths.
