X-Rank Hunter

Chapter 150: Birthmark Of Kastel Family

Chapter 150: Birthmark Of Kastel Family

But of course, the fight-to-death thing remained a matter of his conjecture. Jim was still not certain if it was really the case. Jim didn't know why, but seeing the killing intent coming from the two, there was a high chance that they would fight-to-death. As if there was a huge enmity between the two of them.

Jim was just wondering how could the two individuals who had just met hate each other the moment they met. Did they provoke each other? Were the both of them too arrogant that they could incur each other's anger with just a glance? Or was it because they simply loved to fight and kill?

But no matter what was the case, he needed to be careful. He knew that the strength of any among the two of them was simply overwhelming. Jim didn't dare to treat this as a play anymore. If he wanted to live, he must do his all to survive. This was the instinct of a Hunter. Hunt or be hunted.

Although he had never killed before, he knew that someday, just like the fate of any other Hunter, he was destined to kill. Even if it were demons, beasts, or even humans, Jim knew that his hand would be dirtied by their blood someday. And right now, he had already killed a few numbers of beasts. As for humans, he hadn't killed one before. But if it was a must in order to survive, what else could he do other than to dye his hand red?

But of course, even if killing was a common thing, there was naturally a limit to it. You couldn't just massacre humans, your own kind, whenever you like, right? That was why Hunters weren't allowed to kill each other or kill any other normal human beings.

If there was an enmity between Hunters, and only life and death battle was the solution, the Hunter Association would let it happen through proper means. They would be brought to the life and death arena together with their reasons. If they didn't do this, but instead, kill a certain Hunter out of anger, they would be treated as a criminal and would be hunted by the many Bounty Hunters from everywhere.

In any case, this life-and-death battle among Hunters was something that Jim had never planned of doing. Their humanity was already in a dire situation, why would he bother himself in something petty like that?

But now, it appeared that he was subjected to this. Did he really need to kill this time?

And also...

As Jim was watching the battle, he suddenly recalled something important. He waved his hand as a pendant appeared from his interspatial ring given by his mom before he left. He held the pendant with his hand as he raised it at chest level and stared at the pendant.

It was round and was simple, and part of it was forming a C-shape and was blue in color. And the remaining part was all white. Jim knew that this pendant was filled with memories and was important.

The only problem was that how could he give this pendant to that someone if they would fight to death later on?

Jim's gaze then landed on the little boy who was controlling the huge sword as he couldn't help but mutter, "Is that Ben Cosa?"

His mother told him clearly that he should give this pendant to Ben Cosa without fail. Jim didn't even know who was it but upon learning from his mom that this Ben was a son of her friend, and was chosen as well by one of the Four Greatest Hunters, Jim could only nod his head in agreement. He also wanted to know what kind of person was his mother talking about.

But the problem was that the person that his mother told him was actually someone who had overwhelming killing intent. As if he had already killed thousands of people at his young age.

Not only that, but there was also his overwhelming strength to back up his killing intent. As if it was telling him, "Stay away from me, if you don't want to be killed!" How could Jim talk to this kind of person? Just what in the world was the kind of person did those Four Greatest Hunters had chosen? It appeared that they weren't Hunters at all.

If Jim would just learn that he was the only Hunter chosen by the Four Greatest Hunters, and if he would learn that the other person chosen by the Four Greatest Hunters were actually an Assassin, a Criminal, and a wondering Awakener who didn't care about any profession, just what kind of reaction would he possibly do?

Jim continued to watch the unfolding battle as the vibe given by the girl was finally changing. It appeared that the girl was now about to make a move.

With her crossed arms, and with a grin, and eyes flashing with cold glint, it was as if she grabbed the air itself as she clawed the midair. The huge sword was then pushed back through sheer force as the barrage of attack finally came to a halt.

"Beast Claw!" Janine muttered after the action she had done. But of course, it didn't end in there.

Her body then became slimmer and taller as a claw sprouted on her fingers.

"Body Transformation: Speed Type!"

Janine bent her knees slightly as she vanished from where she was standing. After which, she appeared right beside Ben who was not too far away from her. Her hand was already ready to pierce the other party's throat as there was not even a tiny bit of hesitation in her action. Janine was really intending to kill her opponent!

But to her shock, what she had pierced through her hand was only an afterimage. She was still yet to know what had just happened when suddenly, something sharp slashed her back before a cold voice sounded,

"Battle of speed?" Ben said as he was now behind Janine and had already slashed the other party's back with a short sword made of his bone. After a moment of pause, he added, "I admit that you have a powerful body, far powerful than mine. But if you want to battle me in speed, then you must be dreaming if you can win."

"Hmph!" Janine didn't care though. Although she was hit, it didn't harm her at all. That said, she turned around as she swung her hand against her opponent who she thought was on her behind. But when she turned around, she didn't find anyone at all before she received yet another attack on her back.

"I told you, you're too slow," Ben said as he was now behind Janine and as he had already attacked the other party.

But this time, Janine seemed to receive some damage as she felt that her back was being scratched by a mere sword.

This speed-type transformation was really weak! Janine could only curse her transformation for receiving such damage from a low-level attack.

That being said, Janine's transformation turned back to normal as she didn't bother herself fighting her opponent with that kind of transformation anymore. It would be much better if she could just land a blow against the other party but seeing that even her fastest transformation wasn't enough to even touch the hair of the other party, she could only admit defeat in the battle of speed.

But how would he defeat this kind of opponent who only knew how to run away? Janine was frustrated. This kind of situation was really troublesome for her.

"Do you only know how to run away?" Janine snorted coldly knowing that her fist couldn't reach the other party. "Do you dare to fight me head on?!" Through her words that could reach the other party, she was just hoping that she could provoke him somehow.

"Who told you I'm running away?" Ben smirked.

At that moment, Janine felt some danger from above as she looked upwards trying to see what was going on. But to her shock, the huge sword he sent away a while ago, was now descending from the sky and was actually landing at her.

It was now too late to run away knowing that the sword was about to land on her. That being said, she had no choice but to face it head-on. A type of confrontation she always wanted to.

So with a grin, she clenched her right fist to the hardest putting a stance of an uppercut. Her short sleeve was blown by the wind as the crown-like birthmark on her right arm was being revealed. It glowed a little as Janine finally delivered a punch to greet the incoming huge sword.

Very strong shockwaves were immediately formed trying to push away the surroundings. Even Ben was forced to cross his arm to block the shockwaves. What incredible physical prowess. Ben widened his eyes in astonishment.

But what made him even more shocked was the birthmark he saw on the other party's arms. The birthmark of the Kastel Family!
